13th INTERNATIONAL GUITAR COMPETITION AND FESTIVAL
7th to 10th of September, 2011
International Guitar Competition and Festival, Sernancelhe, Portugal is pleased to announce that the 13h International Competition will take place between the 7th and 10th of September 2011.
Guitarists of all nationalities are eligible, provided they were born not earlier than September 10th 1976. Contestants who have family ties with a jury member or have studied with a jury member in the last two years will not be judged by that jury member.
The composition of the jury will be communicated to the contestants after they have correctly completed their application forms.
1. Enrolment
Applications must be sent to :

Câmara Municipal de Sernancelhe, 3640, Sernancelhe Portugal.
The following documents are required:
a) Photocopy of an identity document (which includes age)
b) 1 recent photograph.
c) Curriculum Vitae.
2. Enrolment fee
The enrolment must be send with 50€.
The fee must be received by the 6th of September and must be paid in full by:

2.1 After receiving the enrolment fee the organizers will send details to each contestant about accommodation and how to get to Sernancelhe. Travel and accommodation will be at the contestant’s expense.
2.2 Non attendance
The enrolment fee is not refundable.
3. All rounds are open to the public
Programme
4. First round :
A freely chosen programme of about 15 minutes.
4.1 Second round :
A freely chosen programme of about 25 minutes including one piece or movement from baroque period. Is not possible to repeat works played in the first round.
4.2 Final round :
A freely chosen programme of about 25 minutes which can include up to maximum of 10 minutes worth of music already played by the contestant in the first two rounds.
N.B. – A copy of any unpublished piece must be sent to the committee by the 6th of September, 2011.
5. Arrival Day
The contestants must arrive to Sernancelhe on 7th (Wednesday) and gathering in Auditório Municipal when a draw will take place on 19.00h. Our competition organization will be in Porto’s airport with a bus to transport the guitarists that arrive until 16.00h. The playing order – once decided will not be changed.
6. Departure Day
On 11th September at 6:00 a.m. (morning), the organization will send a bus to return to Oporto’s airport.The contesters will have to wait for this bus near the Town Hall of Sernancelhe.
7. The beginning of the competition
a) 1st round: September 8th at 10.30 hrs.
b) 2nd round: September 9th at 10.30 hrs.
c) Final round: September 10th at 14.30 hrs.
8. The jury will consist of members of different countries.
9. Entrance to the final round (maximum of 4) will be based on a simple majority of votes.
The jury’s decision will be final.
10. Prizes
1st prize- 2.000 €
(Through partnerships established with International Guitar Competition and Festival of Sernancelhe, the first prize includes a concert tour with a total value estimated at € 7000)

- A concert at the Teatro Municipal da Guarda – 2012
- A concert at the Teatro Ribeiro Conceição – Lamego – 2012
- A concert at the Teatro Viriato – Viseu - 2012
2nd prize- 1.300 €
3rd prize- 700 €
- Savarez will offer string sets to all the laureates
11. Contestants will waive all rights now and at any time in the future, in relation to any type of recording made.
12. Participation in the competition implies that the contestant accept the above regulations.
13. In the event of any disagreement concerning the rules, the only valid text will be the original in the Portuguese language.
